SUE

I am a Gestalt Relational Psychotherapist. I work with adults only, on a one-to-one basis in order to create a ‘Therapeutic Working Relationship’. Research has proved that it is within this relationship that change happens. I offer a supportive, confidential and safe space to explore issues on a short or long term basis.

I am an Advanced Trainee studying at the Welsh Psychotherapy Institute. I have completed my training and am in the final stages of submission for accreditation as a Clinical Psychotherapist (Level 7) with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists). I recently completed an additional Post Completion Course. I also studied Humanistic Existential Counselling at Barry College, Vale of Glamorgan where I completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Person Centred/Integrative Counselling.

Throughout my training I have seen clients as a Volunteer Counsellor with Cruse Bereavement, as a Volunteer Psychotherapist with YCS (Y Cwmni Siarad/ The Talking Company) and am also a member of the Affordable Therapy Service (WPI).

I am a Student Trainee Member of the following organisations:

UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists)

UKAGP (UK Association for Gestalt Practitioners)

WPI (Welsh Psychotherapy Institute)

I attend for regular supervision, am fully insured and have a DBS check certificate.

As an Advanced Trainee I charge £40 for an hour therapy session. I also have a limited number of concession spaces; costs are variable depending on financial situation and availability.

I studied for my advanced diploma in gestalt psychotherapy at the Welsh Psychotherapy Partnership (WPP). I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and a United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registered clinical psychotherapist.

Prior to this I worked in a variety of care and educational settings. This includes working for local authorities, colleges, universities, the NHS and YCS (Y Cwmni Siarad/The Talking Company). I am familiar with multidisciplinary teams and have worked at mental health assessment units and inpatient units, in both adult and children and adolescent's mental health (CAMHs). I have experience with a range of complex issues including abuse, attachment disorder, developmental issues, emotional dysregulation, eating disorders, personality disorders and extreme trauma.

I have additional training in youth mentoring, LGBT, Autism, special education needs and dementia.

Most commonly in private practice I work with individuals around bereavement, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, relationship breakdowns, gender identity, identity and self-esteem. In university settings I mainly support students dealing with peer pressure, work-stress, exam anxiety, relationship issues, gender, sexuality and transitioning to adulthood.

My aim is to support an individual to become aware of the cause of their dissatisfaction and to live the life they want. I work with clients on the subject matter they bring however creatively they chose.

I charge £50 per session (to be reviewed April 2020). I have a limited amount of affordable spaces available for individuals with financial difficulties.
